Welcome to the Graduate School of Sogang University.

Graduate education is not only about acquiring established truths and knowledge, but also about discovering new truths and creating new knowledge. Since its founding in March 1968, the Graduate School of Sogang University has been committed to fostering intellectual exploration and the application of academic theory, grounded in the educational ideals of the Jesuit Catholic worldview that has been carried on for over 460 years. At the same time, we strive to cultivate leadership, character, and creativity.

The Graduate School aims to deepen undergraduate education by pursuing advanced scholarship and truth-seeking, with the goal of developing high-level academic abilities and original thinking. In line with the university’s motto “Obedire Veritati” (Obey the Truth), Sogang University currently offers 38 master’s and doctoral programs. Furthermore, since 1972, we have implemented a credit exchange program among the three universities in the Sinchon area—Sogang, Yonsei, and Ewha—as well as with other institutions such as Seoul National University, The Catholic University of Korea, Korea National Defense University, KIST, and UST. This allows for broader academic collaboration and the shared use of resources and library materials.

Currently, around 1,500 students are enrolled in our master’s and doctoral programs. To date, we have awarded over 14,100 master’s degrees and 2,300 doctoral degrees. As graduate education continues to grow in importance, we are meeting the demands of the times with unwavering commitment. Looking beyond the domestic sphere, we are also striving to become a leading global institution.

We sincerely hope that your time at Sogang University’s Graduate School will be both rewarding and meaningful.
